Poached Quince
If you can find them, Quince are an amazing fruit to have on-hand in the larder. They keep longer than apples and their flavor trumps even the most delicious pear. This week I'm poaching them in a little sugar and tea, then roasting them to bring out the depth of their incredible flavor. I'm using Bellocq's Gypsy Caravan, which imparts a lightly smoky scent, along with cloves and anise.

Thanksgiving Day

With one mind, we turn to honor and thank all the Food Plants we harvest from the garden. Since the beginning of time, the grains, vegetables, beans and berries have helped the people survive. Many other living things draw strength from them too. We gather all the Plant Foods together as one and send them a greeting and thanks.
Now our minds are one.
